Multi-Scale Superhydrophobic Anti-Icing Coating for Wind Turbine Blades

چکیده
As a surface functional material, super-hydrophobic coating has great application potential in wind turbine blade anti-icing, self-cleaning and drag reduction. In this study, ZnO SiO2 multi-scale superhydrophobic coatings with mechanical flexibility were prepared by embedding modified nanoparticles PDMS. The higher static water contact angle (CA is 153°) lower rolling (SA 3.3°), showing excellent super-hydrophobicity. Because of its ability micro-nano structure, the good anti-icing ability. Under conditions ?10°C 60% relative humidity, can delay freezing time 1511S, which 10.7 times slower than normal time. More importantly, due to properties provided synergistic effect particles, durability. After 10 wear tests, still as high 141° 6.8°. This research provides theoretical reference for preparation mechanically stable simple process, well basic on behavior coating.

Anti-icing superhydrophobic coatings.
We use nanoparticle-polymer composites to demonstrate the anti-icing capability of superhydrophobic surfaces and report direct experimental evidence that such surfaces are able to prevent ice formation upon impact of supercooled water both in laboratory conditions and in natural environments. We find that the anti-icing capability of these composites depends not only on their superhydrophobicit...

cost-effective, lightweight, large-scale wind turbine blades. Material costs are continuously changing, and the use of glass fibres (E-, Sand R-glass) and carbon fibre should be explored considering density/cost, specific stiffness and strength. The various fibre angles should also be used to best meet the design requirements. Rather than just a straight blade, various blade geometries should b...
متن کاملOptimizing the Layout of Heaters for Distributed Active De-icing of Wind Turbine Blades
Ice accumulation on wind turbines operating in cold regions reduces power generation by degrading aerodynamic efficiency and causes mass imbalance and fatigue loads on the blades. Due to blade rotation and variation of the pitch angle, different locations on each blade experience large variations of Reynolds number, Nusselt number, heat loss, and non-uniform ice distribution. Hence, applying di...

A short overview of composite materials for wind turbine applications is presented here. Requirements toward the wind turbine materials, loads, as well as available materials are reviewed. Apart from the traditional composites for wind turbine blades (glass fibers/epoxy matrix composites), natural composites, hybrid and nanoengineered composites are discussed. Manufacturing technologies for win...
